Mark was first elected to be your State Representative in 2018, in his first term Mark has served on the House Appropriations Committee, where he is chair of the General Government subcommittee. He is also a member of the Health & Human Services, Higher Education & Community Colleges, and School Aid & Department of Education subcommittees. His effective leadership was shown when he was selected to lead a statewide IT task force. Prior to becoming State Representative, Mark was involved with the City of Walker for 13 years. He was appointed to the Planning Commission from 2005. In 2011, he was elected as a 3rd Ward City Commissioner. Mark was elected Mayor of the City of Walker in 2013 and 2017.
Mark grew up in South Walker on a small farm and learned to work hard and enjoy the nature and green space. Mark has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Calvin College, a Masters of Management degree from Aquinas College. Mark also graduated from MSU’s Michigan Political Leadership Program.
Mark and his wife Kris, reside in Walker with their three children: Elaina, Olivia, and Blake.
